appoligies for the non-existant recent post but i was so sick after the weekend i wasnt able to speak. i think we were a bit unlucky against chelsea because when we started to ask them some serious questions we were caught on the break. dont get me wrong, i think the best team won on the day but they werent three goals better. one thung which struck me after the game was the fact that chelsea are an infinitley more superior side defensivly then us. i am a firm believer in the best form in attack attack being the best form of defence but when push comes to shove you should be able to rely on your big men at the back to perform the basics. our big men were exposed bedly. this problem needs to be adressed badly before next season.
as for monday, confidence was low which is understandable. my heart goes out to ruud for missing the penalty and i dont think fans getting negative will get us anywhere. it was a poor poor performance and things can only get better from there. what is most important is three points on saturday and ending the season on a high note. this is vital for both players and fans alike. we came a long way this season, won a trophy and should be able to secure second place. this is a time for cool heads. we should all get behind our boys and have something to sing about next season.
as for ruud, i think it is imperative he gets back on the saddle and plays like his life depends on it on saturday. he is the best predator in the league and his goal tally to game ratio speaks for itself this season. i belive he has alot more to offer and if he was in the right place mentally he would be leading goalscorer in the league this season. i firmly believe he should start on saturday and be given one more chance to silence his critics. its the least the club owes him and he has the class to come through it.
i send my best wishes out to wayne rooney and i hope he recovers in enough time to play in the world cup and establish himself as one of the greatest in the world. up or down im looking forward to seeing him play next season.
stephen reid scored for blackburn last night and proved once again he can mix it with the big boys in the centre of the park. one other man who impressed me this season is mark hughes. early days yet but hughsie keeps rising to the challenges put in his way,he is united to the core, he is tough and genuine and i cant help thinking am i looking at the new united manager. time wil tell but i can think of worse candidates.
i havent backed a winner in four weeks so im no position to try and give advice about horses. a o brien looks badly out of form though and it will be interesting to see how his guineas runners fare out at the weekend.
keep the faith
