great performance again yesterday. Rooney has silenced his doubters and won me $150 in the process(i had him backed at 28/1 to score the hatrick. we looked superb and if we can maintain this form we are bound to go close.
right from the start we had bolton on the back foot. with Giggs and Ronaldo both playing we had great shape and stretched them to the last. there was a great energy to our game and we created enough chances to score 6 goals in the first twenty minutes.
in midfield Carrick ran the game. he was always available to the back four like a kind of release valve and his distribution and vision were first class. he played integral parts in all three goals and ,as i have said before, covered midfield runers which is also a huge benifit. the more i see him play, the more i like him. i believe he has a bright future at Old Trafford.
as for Vidic, well what can i say. he is a class act and if anybody ever bothered to read this blog and gave me any credance would already know that. he is a warrior. he goes for every ball,he is aggressive in the air and knows his job expertly well. he is a huge asset to us and with a solid back four and keeper,we have a great foundation.
i thought bolton would be a sterner test then liverpool but we ripped them apart. we are brimming with confidence and are playing beautiful football. our squad is looking strong for the first time in years and there is a belief about the side that this is our year. that belief is beginning to manifest itself to the fans, particularly this one.

yet another great performance and rooney finally getting the goals he needed. the first twenty minutes against bolton saw some of the best football played in the premiership this year and if anybody had any doubt about united, they dont now.
we were physical,we were fierce, we ran riot. with giggs and ronaldo playing you are almost gauranteed to stretch any side and with scholes and carrick pulling the strings in midfield goals were only a matter of time. it was just a question of how many.
rooney took his three goals with aplomb, the second goal in particular was an awesome finish, and with him hitting top gear chelseawill be worried. carrick is looking more assured with each performance and ran midfield today. it was by far his best performance andas i said before, not only does he pass but he tracks back. he impressed today.
vidic again was immense in defence. he is a huge presence at the back and is strong in the air. bolton had a spell in the second half where they had alot of corners and free kicks and he was under almost every ball in the box, knocking them out of harms way. he was brilliant.
it was a great team performance and i singled out three players who performed particularly well. to be fair, they were all excellent and i couldnt fault any of them. i am delighted with the teams form and long may it last. i believe if we can stay injury free,we can do it. keep the faith and stay red my friends.

brutal performance against crewe last night and very few positives to take out of it.
for starters our back four were poor. brown did little to enhance his chance of first team football and was caught ball watching by vaughan far too many times. heinze and silvestre badly need games and as the night dragged on, that became increasingly obvious. the right was ok but he hardly set the world alight.
in midfield we were desperate. the two jones` were very poor and didnt inspire me as to their future at old trafford. richardson,an england international had an opportunity to make his mark on the game and stake a claim for a first team place but seemed more interested in arguing with the ref then trying to play football. he should have led the midfield but seemed to have a bad influence on the rest of them. barnes, who came on in the second half, was built like a jockeys whip. by thet i mean he was a whippet of a young man. he had no pace and was unable to lift the ball off the ground for his crosses. he was bad. atleast young lee looked to have potential as did shawcross when he came on.
up front solksjaar was the man and if it werent for him we would have lost. smith has a long way to go but he did set up the second goal.in summary a poor night.

easy, easy, easy. i was never so relaxed watching a united liverpool match. after weathering the first five minutes we took control of the game and never looked like loosing.
darren fletcher put in a man of the match performance and got stuck in to gonzalez and riise straight away. scholes and carrick controlled the middle of the park. giggs always carried a threat going forward, sahas control was exquisite and rooney worked his socks off. defencively we were solid with vidic and evra both looking like quality signings.
it was a great team performance and we outbattled and outplayed liverpool on every inch of the park. we have developed a great deal as a unit and it is a pleasure to see our team play for each other. we are looking good and the result was a great response to chelseas win over portsmouth. i am delighted.
i wont single out one particular player for adulation but i saw that carrick was coming in for some stick because he gave the ball away(i think it was three times). he was given a few hospital passes and on another occasion nobody would make a move for him. his desire to get back and cover midfield runners more then made up for that and he made a few crucial challenges at vital times. add some of the passes he made today, particularly where he picked out rooney in the liverpool box, was excellent. he is a natural midfielder and is growing into his role all the time. he is a positive influence on our nidfield and i believe he has bright future with united. dont break his balls.
liverpool were poor though. gerrard must be loosing his patience with rafa as he is constantly being played out of position. there is more to their relationship then meets the eye as i have eluded to on this blog and i dont think there is any love lost between the two. liverpool dont look too strong and it would seem their league is over already. maybe not but they need to find some form and rapidly.
as for the chelsea portsmouth game,if there is match fixing in the premiership that game was a perfect example of it. for a team that were fourth in the table at the time, pompey were pathetic. pamerot and the centre back with the hair were desperate and wouldnt have made galway uniteds starting eleven. they invited chelsea to attack and couldnt defend or didnt. drogba assaulted james and mourinho whinged because they didnt get a goal. for me chelsea are a physical negative side who try anything and everything to win a game. they are there to be shot at this year by a well organised pacey side like us. i cant wait to play them. hopefully the memory of last years defeat at the bridge will stand to our lads and help drive them on to victory against the blues.
great weekend. great result. happy days.

missed the copenhagen game as i have started an evening course studying journalism. however i managed to take in the highlights and was impressed with what i saw.
we created enough chances in the irst half to put the yie to bed pretty early and seemed to be well worth the threegoal win. once again Rooney was instrumental in everything good we did,Scholes looked in great form as did Ronaldo and Carrick seems to be growing with every performance. we have more or less qualified from our group now and we can concentrate on the premiership until after christmas anyway.
the big game sunday is sure to be a thriller. both teams need the win but neither will want to loose. it truely is the proverbial six pointer.
as for how the game will develop i wouldnt be surprised to see a draw. much will hinge on the midfield battle and it will be intweresting to see how Fergie approaches it. will he play our best team in a 442 formation or will he try to play 451 and stifle the midfield. if he chooses the latter the writing will be on the wall for us im afraid. we would never be able to out muscle the scousers in that department and for me, our only option is to outplay them.
this game is a huge opportunity for Carrick to silence some of his critics. he needs to impose himself in the game and pass the ball as well as we know he can. he has started to find his range in the rwo most recent games and if can go on from there he could really make a name for himself on sunday. also Rooney looks set to explode on some team soon andhopefully it will be the bag dippers. depending on where he is played, i could see him score two or three. fingers crossed.
we look strong defencivly andthe biggest threat they pose on our goal is from a set piece. they have looked shaky defensivly at times this year and if we play 442 with Carrick and Scholes in centre midfield,Giggs and Ronaldo out wide and Rooney and Saha up front i think we can expose them and win it well. however if we play451 the best we can expect is a draw with a loss a strong possibility.
make no mistake, this is a huge game and a win is crucial for a succesful season. c`mon united.

another impressive performance, albeit against poor opposition but you can only beat whats infront of you and that we did emphatically. we played well in the first half and i was happy with Carrick who seems to be gradually finding his feet. he passed the ball well and given time,i do believe he has a bright future with united.
after the introduction of Giggs,we changed ti 442 and upped the ante. as soon as we scored one the writing was on the wall for wigan. i was delighted to see Vidic score, especially from a set piece and Rooney starting to play as well as we know he can. the future is looking rosy for us right now and long may it last. let the good times roll.
as for liverpool.rafas constant team rotation is making people restless and is having a negative effect on performances. throw the fact that he is always playing gerard out of position and hes not doing himself many favours with the anfield faithful.
chelsea were lucky to take three points from reading but unlucky to loose their first two keepers. i dont think their was any intention in either incident. the first one looked like hunt was going down looking for a penalty and the second was simply a collision of two men going for the one ball.two freak accidents. what did strike me about the game was the celebrations afterwards. to see how the blues players and fans react you would be forgiven for thinking they had just won the champions league. infact, they had just beaten lowly reading,a good championship side. maybe their expectations have dropped.
arsenal are quietly putting a run together and are the dark horses of this season.
interessting times ahead.

well my competition in ballinrobe came and went without any success.windswept and rain laden weather ensured that playing conditions were at their most difficult and trying to maintain concentration behind an incredibley slow fourball in these conditions proved too much for me to take.
winds on friday touched gale force at times and it was questionable wether the competition should have proceeded at all. you could bet on a otur event being postponed in similar conditions. however it was the same for everybody so i cant really use that as an excuse. infact i scored 16 points in eight of the first nine holes. it was the par three seventh that would mark the bebinning of the end for me. i lost two balls in a ferocious gale after waiting ten minutes for the group infront of us to line and line their putts again. the waiting continued for every hole until the finish and all i wanted to do was get in and warm up.
i enjoyed the day and it was good for me to play in such a competitive event. i hope to be back next year with a stronger game and a better chance of winning. i will be working hard through the winter and hopefully next year can see me do better in terms of competitions please God.
no news on the football front with the exception of Irelands abismal defeat to Cyprus yesterday and the less said about that the better.
over and out.

thank God our team gave us something to cheer about on sunday. we,the fans, needed a big performance and we got it against newcastle. we played lovely flowing football and could have won by at least six.
our defence looks solid and i am delighted to see Heinze and Vidic back. Heinzes commitment is second to none and you can see his positivity manifest itself through the rest of the team. Vidic is the anchor in defence and brings stability. if Rio is the brains Vidic is the braun. he does the donkey work and is strong and dominant in the air, sonething we were missing in his absence.
all is not lost this season yet and with players coming back from injury things are looking up. add to that the news that Fernando Torres arrival is supposodly imminent there may well be a silver lining to the cloudhanging over Old Trafford. we are not there yet though.
as for the golf i won my first competition in claremorris on thursday. i felt it was comming as i am playing my best ever golf at the moment. if i could only sort out my putting and i would be winning alot more. the fridays final is on in ballinrobe and im looking forward to it. if i can sort my putting out before then who knows what might happen. God is good.
