disappointing performance against watford today but three valuable points none the less. defensivly we looked shaky and we lacked our usual flowing fluency going forward.
starting from the back,i cant understand why our back four had been changed from the first two games of the season. wes brown looked greaat at right back previously but looked out of position today. also whenever silvestre plays he seems to breed anxiety and fear amongst the other defenders. he was at fault for the watford goal and even though he scored, i would have been happier to see evre there today and if neccessary silvestre centre back.
as for the midfield we lacked a strong tackler/ballwinner. this was supposed to be fletchers role but he couldnt cut it. it was a game taylor made for a player of hargreaves ilk. with virtually no meaningful support beside him,it was tough for carrick make an impact on the game and im sure he will be disappopinted with his first start for united. with nobody imposing themselves in the centre of the pitch for us,he had little or no space or time on the ball.he did however show flashes and what i liked most about his performance,he tracked back oposition midfield runners which was an aspect of the gane we lacked last season.
upfront i felt saha was forced to play too deep and we came through the middle too much without trying to stretch them on the flanks. we seemed to get sucked into the physical game watford wanted to play. they were intent on stopping us playing and were largely successful on that front. i was also disappointed with j s park who dived twice.
allin all we deserved the win but it would have been nice to secure it in a more convincing fashion. watford tried to muscle us and their style of football is always tough to play against. what was evident from todays game was our need for a strong midfielder to impose themselves on the game and control its pace. the transfer window is getting closing and we have a void that badly needs filling. watch this space.

blown away by our performance tonight against charlton. we were by far the better team and could have been three up at half time. we kept our shape well, worked hard and attacked with purpose. it was a commanding performance and sends a clear signal to the rest of the league of our intent and ability. it was particularly satisfying to see solksjaar score. although its early days yet we have made a great start.
i dreant last night that chelsea would loose tonight i thought by one nil and i had a bet on them to do so. they lost alright but by 2-1. this could dent their confidence somewhat as they were a goal up and conceded two goals in the last ten minutes. time will tell but i dont think jose will be too pleased tonight.
on the subject of dreams,i dreamt fernando torres would play for united. i dont no when but i hope its as accurate as the chelsea dream because we would have some serious firepower then.

after witnessing an awesome performance from manchester united my confidence for the forthcoming season has been totally renewed.we attacked with pace, style and vigour and we won the match inside the first twenty minutes. i have had my reservations about our team but they oozed class today. i no there is a long season ahead but after watching a performance like that i believe we can give a good account of ourselves again this year and make a genuine push for title glory.
from one to eleven we were class but the man who blew me away today more then anyone was evre. he was tenacious in the tackle, always gave an option going forward and read the game to perfection. if he continues to put in performances like this heinze will have a serious fight on his hands to regain his first team place. having said that, every player on the pitch today was highly impressive and united have a solid foundation to build a successful season on. i hope we go on again from this game and show it wasnt a flash in the pan. also, any additions to our squad can only strengthen our quest for anoyher premiership.

stevie g your a dirty cheat(you exposed yourself yesterday against shefield united) and how dare you insinuate that united fans are the ones that do all the hating and liverpool fans merely defend themselves. what a load of nonscense. may i remind you how last year liverpool fans threw excrement at united supporters in anfield and they pelted alan smiths ambulance as it left the ground. i grew up in the eighties when liverpool won everything and united won precious little. i remember the abuse i was subjected to in my school where i was one of about 7 united fans and how those early childhood memories scarred me for future life. sunshine liverpool fans were not only happy with winning everything, they were intent in rubbing our noses in it.
i find it strange that you can talk all kinds of shite in the news of the world about how united wanted you to sign and blah blah blah but you couldnt come out after the game yesterday and justify the penalty decision you were gifted for being unbalanced in the box?
i admire you as a player steven but when you open your mouth all that comes out is nonsence and lies and cheap shots at man united. in future do your talking on the pitch and dont try to destroy my sunday mornings.

well two days to kick off and only two players signed. seena wont sign if he doesnt get confirmation by tomorrow. hargreaves wants to come but its debatable wether bayarn will let him go. i am still waiting for a rabbit to be pulled out of a hat but i am starting to wonder am i fooling myself.
i still believe we need a striker and i am disappointed we dont seem to be chasing anyone. however at least we are not signing dirk kuyt. he been so poor in any games i have ever seen him in i am delighted to see him going to liverpool. i believe he will be a flop and a waste of money. the next two weeks in the transfer market will be interesting but i have been saying that for a long time now to no avail.
i had a lesson with gus yesterday and it went well. i am swinging the club well and if i work on my accuracy i believe i can cut strokes big time.
thats all folks but one other thing, why is robert winston still riding in the uk and fallon is banned?

watching the charity shield today and i saw two teams that united need not be intimidated by. chelsea were dominated in midfield by zenden and sisoko and liverpool lack pace at the back.
while chelsea are laden with big names it seems mourinho has found it difficult to find a balance to his side. there were alot of men in blue chasing shadows and there is a distinct possibility they may have a slow start to the season. the big bonus for them was shevchenko scoring but i have my reservations about his resolve and i have backed him to score less then 15 goals in the premiership at5/4. time will tell.
as for liverpool they are an organised side. what they lack in class they gain in discipline. everyone has a job and they perform their respective tasks well. however they have two main downfalls, they are slow at the back and they need some kind of creative influence. gerrard is inspirational but not what i mean. i cant quite explain what im trying to say but they do lack something and as the season progresses im sure it will reveal itself.
anyway, judging on pre season form we have nothing to fear from these two big guns and if we strengthen our squad further it will increase our chances of premiership glory even more.

kuzycheck has finally signed but at what cost. paul mcshane is a player of huge potential in my mind and i am very disappointed to see him go. he is a player for the future and i will follow his progress closely. unfortunately he is being made the sacrificial lamb as opposed to some the dead wood that is currently floating around the club(liam miller springs to mind).
hopefully this is the start of a flurry of activity for us in the transfer market. we need another midfielder and another striker. i wont speculate as to who will come. i am sick of being fed lies from the papers and until such times as i see pen is put to paper i wont believe anyone is coming
we took our eye off the ball with paul mcshane though.

played absolute crap in salthill on saturday. it was quite embarrassing to be honest but you have to take the good with the bad i suppose. one thing i must learn to do is control my emotions on the course.if i cant let the bad holes go i will drive myself dimented. i hope this part of my game will come with experience.
as for the football united looked good again last night, all be it against a poor side. all they can do is win though and they did this in style. i have been a critic of ronaldo post world cup but if he continues to put in performances like this he will have no problems winning back the fans. his two goals were sublime and his response to the jeers of the oxford fans spoke volumes about his character. if he can show some loyalty to united and reassure us as to his commitment to the club,he has the ability to go down as a potential legend of the club.
it was good to see heinze and saha back and i am starting to get a positive feeling for the forthcoming season. another signing or two are needed but we are playing some lovely flowing football and the future is looking bright in terms of young talent. it is vital for the fans to get behind the team though and be vocal in their support.
bring them on lads.

interesting match last night. rooney should never have been sent off. scholes desereved to go. our finishing was clinical and i was delighted to see we scored with only nine men. carrick pulled of some fine passes but i think we will not see him in his true light until after a few months when he gets to know the team more. we attacked well and there were alot of positives to be taken from the game.
as for the golf' i am playing in salthill later tpday and looking forward to it. i have to curtail my open days to save money for my brothers wedding but i couldnt refuse an offer like salthill.

i will start off with the golf today. friday last i fulfilled my goal for my golf this year by qualifying for the open friday final in ballinrobe. i was beaten by one point in the end and scratched the first par 5 after losing my ball in the semi rough. i played very well though and am delighted with myself for being invited back.
now for the football.carrick has finally arrived and we are still waiting for another two. either senna or viera would be good but i would prefer to see somebody younger come in. however, anything would be an improvement on what we have at the moment.
as for the striker situation i believe we need torres. he has united written all over him and if he goes to chelsea as is rumoured in todays papers i will be heartbroken. tevez would be good too but torres is the man for my money. i see we are now being linked with dirk kuyt now. he was brutal in the world cup and showed absolutley no promise to me at all. i would be delighted to seehim go to liverpool. he would do well to make sligo rovers reserve team. fingers crossed we get tores and become genuine contenders.
